Liasons at the OPRF PTO
OPRF PTO Liaison Program Summary
The PTO Liaison Program at OPRFHS is in its fifth year. The Liaison Program was initiated to develop new communications links between parents, the school, and community groups dealing with high school students. The phrase “conversation creates opportunity” captures the essence of the Liaison Program. It is the hope of the PTO that by creating a framework for dialog, parents will have a greater opportunity to contribute to a successful high school experience for the students at OPRFHS.
Assignment: A parent, ideally partnered with another parent, is assigned to an academic division at OPRFHS, or a committee that interacts with OPRFHS, as a liaison. The liaisons work to establish a connection with the division or committee providing a flow of information back and forth between the division or committee and the PTO, which represents the parents and guardians of OPRF students. This flow of information supports a better understanding for parents of the OPRFHS community and how it works enabling them to be a more effective partner in their student’s education process.
